5review = It was the best clown performance I ever saw! It had humour,
it had thought provoking issues, and most of all we could throw balls at
the clowns! I have recommended all my friends and coworkers to see this
show! The show also had excellent sound, music and lighting!

5review = Fun and entertaining in parts. A little dry in others. Strongist
parts were in the more physical routines. Brave to open the fourth wall
with the audience, but wasn't taken far enough. It got a little preachy
toward the end in what appeared to be a futile attempt to give the piece
some kind of meaning. Yes, it's good to be a clown in life, but don't tell
us, show us.

5review = Roblin outdid himself this year. A simply fun show. The 'journey'
the clowns make visually reminded me of a Terry Gilliam film. The physical
movements were seamless. Roblin's monologue'what would you have me do'
,a rant about artist selling out, spoke directly to the plight of the artist
in San Francisco. I hope the show makes best of the Fringe and that he
returns next year.

5review = i loved it, stark, wierd, funny costumes, good bits, but uneven.
i hated the males monologue about what would you have me do, grovel for
funding, connive and backstab. i felt like that took me out of the clown
world into the artist's insecurities and thats not at all what i came to
see. the bag lady clown was strong, the man strong and obviously skilled,
but the other woman seemed a bit lost and uncertain. great lights, i loved
the marshmallow images. too much ukelele playing and the old trunk in the
middle of the stage seems tired to me. i loved it though and i would come
again to see them.

As far as clown acts go, I hold this performance in reverence. The trio
(the sweet waif clown, the nasty clown and the ukulele clown seeking direction)
showed me the best of ensemble clown work in combining classic clown personae
with a surprising mix of genre which beg various emotional responses. We
were engaged immediately when the waif clown goes into the audience. The
show takes twists and turns I didn't expect. The clown with the ukulele
has a beautiful voice. The costumes are memorable classic visions of clownery.
I cannot recall any clown act bringing tears to my eyes the way this act
did. Apart from the title, everything about Imbecillus is brilliantus.

5review = I was thrilled to see this mystery from Juneau return after winning
best of fringe last year...and with three more in tow!!! So with great
anticipation, I saw Wed. night's performance...however, I am horribly sorry
to report a twinge of dissapointment. perhaps first impressions are better?
Or, I would rather believe, as is often the case with theatre and all things
organic, some nights are just better than others. That said, on to the
praise...there were some wonderful bits, and i don't wish to give away
too much, but one favorite involved balls,...many, many balls...so delightful,
and they kept reinventing themselves throughout the show...wonderful play
of faces improvisationally choreographed with dramatic music,... neat examples
of human strength and trust made poetic...as well as a thoughtful monologue
on the torments of being a performer, that repeats, each time carrying
more weight for me; it ends with affirmation and begins: what would you
have me do? listen f!
or it.
Otherwise the evening had a general tone of sloppiness that was surprising
for an artist so normally well-timed and technical made natural. Roblin
was as always great, but seemed to be hanging back for the other, less-skilled
clowns to take the fore-front.
Overall, I would definately recommend this as a show to see amongst the
fringe

5review = Exquisite. An overused word, I know. But what else cna I say?
Brought up kind of a sad feeling, a longing, brought up a sense of being
separate while connected, and connected while separate. Brought up a lot
of big questions and best of all didn't answer them. Brought up laughs,
and sighs, and wondering. To me this was a very spiritual show because
I left with a sense of having seen something we have in common. A sense
of searching, of not knowing.

5review = A funny clown show, complete with rubber noses, ridiculous costumes,
and audience participation. The three clowns worked well together, particularly
in the hilarious acting out (from the ukele clown and the big clown particularly)
towards suspenseful movie music, and in the human pyramid stunts. Favorite
part was the pouty waif clown who had snuck into the audience, arguing
with the stage manager in the booth. Some monologues or songs lost me,
and I wanted them to be over sooner. The pouty waif clown had a great story
at the end that worked very well for me, a far-fetched story building on
lie after lie, as the other clowns twirled around her. I found it oddly
mesmerizing and relaxing to watch marshmallows being roasted, like watching
a cat grooming itself...

5review = To be perfectly frank, any show with the word 'clown' in it makes
me wary, as clowns can be a gamble. Imbecillus surpassed my all bad-clown
expectations and filled me with joyous hop-a-riffic-ness!! Incredible fat-suit,
super ukulele song&dance; I was riveted, laughed an awful lot, and
even teared up; left the show inspired, my faith in great clowning restored.

5review = Roblin and friends seem to be tapped into some alternate reality--some
place I've never been, but would dearly love to visit. Imbecilus is funny,
touching and terrifying all at the same time. The conjunction of Shakespeare
and Seuss was particularly beautiful.

5review = I love any performer who can take a pause in the "action"
of a show and milk it for all it's worth, and then, just when you think
it has run dry, take it in a new direction and milk it some more. This
show has not just one, but three such performers. And it isn't just the
pauses that are brilliant. The dialog, music, and clowning are inspired
too. Absolutely delightful.

of 2000. This is a fresh and fun work. I enjoyed it very much.
