Antonio Sacre is a force to be reckoned with. In his promo pieces, he
invites us to "come and be molested," and we laugh. This sexual
history is so sweetly told. Antonio gives us the relevant details of his
sexual life, year by year, so we're not only identifying with him, but
with the people he experiences along the way. The dark turn at the end,
harkening to a period he skipped over earlier, is so halting that it made
me feel we were dropped off a precipice. In that moment, I did feel molested,
if only by that final thought presented to me. Men in our culture so often
identify themselves and others with these penes (penises) I'm surprised
no own has done this sort of sexual history before. It is a must of the
festival.

5review = Antonio Sacre has great control as a storyteller. The piece starts
gentle, with hilarious understated humor. The ending is a deeply felt conviction,
making me think about how we'd responded with laughter to his sexual escapades.
But the main shocker was not established enough for me either (I agree,
Carl Thelin). I thought, "did I miss a detail before?" but no
it should be there.

5review = A lot of warm, clever, real life wit. I liked the suddenness
of the harsh ending, but ultimately felt it was cheap and manipulative.
He just didn't earn it. More seeds needed to be planted earlier on. Tearing
up the picture of "Age 11" wasn't enough, especially when he
later mentions that "the trouble" (I don't want to completely
give the ending away) started at age 8. Relationships relevant to the end
should be described earlier so that they seem innocuous, but with the final
revelation, take on new meaning. Another rewrite could make this a brilliant,
powerful show.

5review = Antonio knows exactly how to enrapture his audience from the
first words that flow out of his mind - "He has this power"...
and knows it well. And what better way to use his talent than to slap us
with a truth so powerful and harsh, yet so needy for awareness. Expectators
are guaranteed to be deeply moved and left dumbfounded... (unless they
just don't get it).

5review = This performance has everything: Humor, suspense, sweaty parts,
and a powerful message. The writing is tight, the performance is understated
and intimate. Everybody's genitals have led them in and out of trouble,
but few could tell their story with the power, honesty, and self-revelation
that Antonio brings to his.

5review = Well presented performance. A rather disturbing piece which left
the audience dumbstruck. We are taken from one extreme to another, which
tended to surprise and shock us with disbelief after the apparent happiness
of the first part of the piece.

5review = Antonio has excellent story telling skills.
I saw his show last year and was truly impressed.
This show was a bit perplexing to me. The childhood
stories were funny and told very well, but the
end took a turn. The message was important, but
it left me wondering if I missed something at
the beginning. Were there instances he didn't
share? Was it just a plea to allow innocence to
flourish?

5review = Antonio Sacre is one of the greatest storytellers I have ever
seen. This piece is both hilariously funny and heartbreakingly sad. I can
not recommend it highly enough!

5review = This performance piece is not what I was expecting - it's ...
it's ... oh hell, just see it! Anything I write might spoil the journey,
and trust me, being in Sacre's audience takes one on a real ride. I will
say that he is in total control of his material: when he wants a laugh,
he gets it, and when he wants to take a left turn, hang on.
This should not be missed.

5review = First half of play has some funny moments, but it takes a very
weird turn in second half. This is not a comedy - it turns into a mean-spirited
joke on the audience. I felt as though the writer/actor owed me $150.00
for my time as his therapist.
