Frank and Ann are urban pioneers who have finally made it. Now it's time to settle in and start a family. Or is it? "Virginia Woolf" meets "High and Low" in this witty drama of kidnapping, lost children and lost parents on a move-in day that turns mistaken identity into a struggle over "family values" you will never forget.

INGRATITUDE A one-act play written and directed by: Gregory Meyer

CAST: Ross Beschler, Melani Morgan

Original music composed and performed by: Eric Laine

About the Play

Ingratitude is a 2-character drama that takes place in the living room of a
couple of urban pioneers moving into their first home. They are childless
and have been unsuccessful in starting a family but things are looking up.
However, their discussion of starting a family is interrupted by an
unexpected event; during their move they receive a ransom note informing
them of that their "son" has been kidnapped.

About the Performers

ROSS BESCHLER (FRANK) has been writing and performing for the theatre ever since way back in high school. Ross was most recently seen in New York at Raw Space on 42nd Street in "Manscapes", an ongoing movement piece project about men and the way they learn to move and interact. Other favorite roles include Kaspar in Peter Handke's "Kaspar", The Duke in "The Bloody Chamber" (an adaptation of Angela Carter short stories), and Trinculo in "The Tempest". Recent film credits include Boney, the mostly-naked lead in the short film "Dirty Laundry". A graduate of Columbia University, Ross has also studied with the Naked Angels theatre group, and is currently continuing his professional training at the William Esper Studios two-year Meisner program in Manhattan. He is very excited about working with the Lantern Theatre Company- this is his first performance in the SF Fringe! Many thanks to Lisa, Michael, Janet, KT, Mo, and Marta for love, shelter,
nd friendship.

MELANI MORGAN (ANN) first burst onto the theatrical scene at the tender age of 7, as Molly in Annie. She has had lead and ensemble performances in Music Man, My Three Angels, Father of the Bride, You Can’t Take It With You, The Sound of Music, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and most recently, Israel Horowitz’s Today I Am a Fountain Pen. Melani has studied with the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta and cotinues her training at the American Conservatory Theatre. Melani Morgan is pleased to make her San Francisco acting debut in Ingratitude.

About the Composer:

ERIC LAINE has been a member of the experimental pop ensemble Here Are The Facts You Requested since its formation in 1991. With this group he has composed and performed music for bars, parties, galleries, retail stores,
aerial acrobatics performances, Butoh dancers, Christmas bazaars, art
festivals, radio programs and concert halls. Their site-specific sound
installations are a cacophonous blend of found sound, environmental texture
and funky rock and roll. Their 1998 album Shocks+Struts was named among the year's best by KALX Berkeley and KUSF San Francisco. "Like all smugly codified traditions, pop music begs to be dismantled. Here Are The Facts You Requested cheerfully comply."--Neva Chonin, San Francisco Bay Guardian, 1998
