I'm posting this after the Fringe Festival closed, but in the event people
refer to these reviews later...
I saw this purely by chance and out of convenience as I headed home from
the Fringe Festival on Sunday. And I was so glad I decided to see it! Brandon
is really a talented performer, his characters are well thought, thoroughly
entertaining, and incisive, and he's hysterically funny. In his last bit,
he simply sits and recounts experiences as himself, and could rivet the
audience doing that for an hour easily. He's alternately intellectual, dishy,
campy, and riveting, and is always right on the spot with his commitment
and energy. He also manages to present his notions about where our government
and the world is going without being pedantic or tiresome. Thanks for a
great show.

Hard to be unbiased, because I'm so much in sync politically. But Welch
illuminates several different characters, and then opens us a window into
his own mind.

In his solo show, Brandon Welch presents a variety of different characters
struggling with political action/inaction and the emotional experiences
that go along with being/becoming politically active. Welch's own personal
narrative is very touching. Funny, humane, thought-provoking, and political--what
a fascination combination. Excellent acting and strong writing.

Solo show hilarious and timely ravings as the lead plays a different character
in each of his monologues. Timely. Intellectual without Dennis Miller's
5 syllable words. (Even though one of the character's would probably consider
moving into a trailer park 'going uptown') The humor comes from the mind,
the heart, and direct experience.

This show has excellent work on lots of levels. The subject matter is strong
and well developed and there is a lot of great character work, highlighted
by a dead-on corporate motivational speaker, a mullett with a mission and
a very uptight FBI Agent with a hilarious mission. It's a good time time
to sit with these issues sans talking heads & pundits and think about
what we're being told and by whom--this show is a great place to start.
Entertaining and moving--I highly recommend it.
