What would you expect from an Irish-American Lesbian? A Jewish belly dancer-engineer? A sophisticated Midwestern farm twin? A Melting Pot Firebrand from Marin? A Eurasian management consultant? Well, forget what you might think. These five over-40 women playwrights will surprise you with their humor and candor in five short new plays.

Actors Studio Stage 2, 533 Sutter Street, San Francisco. Cross street is Powell.

Past Credits and Performances: The playwrights of Brookside Repertory Theatre met in Will Dunne's Dramatic Writing Workshops and have been active in local Bay Area theatre for years. Brookside Repertory Theatre is a new nonprofit that promotes new playwrights and diverse local talent. Our first fully staged production was ISLAND HEAT by Mae Ziglin Meidav, in June 2001 at the Phoenix II Theatre. Our second production, the December 2002 HOLIDAY SHORTS program featured five, original ten-minute plays by the Brookside Repertory playwrights. Our 2003 staged reading series so far has produced Robin Bradford's THE GLIDE and Edna Coulson Hall's WOR-WAH at the Phoenix II Theatre in San Francisco.
