Play: Corned Beef Play: Corned Beef The second of the three vignettes (although five were listed) was the best. Unfortunately, the actors (director?) he chose didn't really bring across the feelings/ideas his writing portrayed. It could have been much more dark. I gave this show two stars because of its acting-- very sub-par. The comic book dreamer in the second snippett was worth the price of admission alone-- IRONMAN RULES!!! Also, the father, his wife-beater and his television had some curious quirks. The actors never seemed compeletely connected with their lines. The "Director" tried to hard. The "Date(s)" didn't try hard enough. The "Sister" gave up too quickly. Where were the other shorts listed in the program!?!? Interested to see more from this playwright if he polishes his work some more. Play: Corned Beef Play: Corned Beef Play: Corned Beef My favorite of the three was the last short play, Director's Cut, in which an assistant film director convinces her director, well known for his funeral scenes, not to commit suicide but to finish the movie instead. This play is fast-paced and vibrant and ends the hour on a high note. As for the other two plays, only Mark Rachel's vibrant acting and enthusiasm make the second piece (Ironman) worth watching. The first (Corned Beef) has a great premise, but insufficient delivery. Also, while the comedy of the set changes between the first and second plays may be unintentional, but is a brilliant piece of absurdist theater! Despite my comments, however, this show is worth seeing for its shining moments. Play: Corned Beef | |
