such plays don't belong on a festival like this in a city like SF; it's
very well done by bear capron, I appreciate that he keeps the teenagers
from the street, but please let them do things on stage they really like
and don't let them tell such boring stories!
they sang very well and the girls and boys were very sweet; but on a theaterfestival
I wanne be amused and triggered!

The cast of young performers really cares, and with a little experience,
some could be good actors. But the play itself is a sad mix of themes that
never get connected, as if to say, "We're telling you stuff that's
really important and profound, but we aren't quite sure what we want to
tell you."

Is the previous reviewer SERIOUSLY comparing this show with Taxi Driver
or Apocolipse Now. That's Apocalypse by the way. Get real. And stop writing
fluff reviews.

It's a world where water is rationed by the canteen. A fickle bureaucracy
opens and closes the water line at its whim. As people are suffering and
the environment is dying, the big corporations are getting even more powerful.
In "Got Water?" a dozen teens try to live their lives, impress
their peers, find out who they are -- while the conditions of life become
impossible.
Making music, singing, dancing, sometimes wearing masks or cartoonish costumes,
the young performers are all convincing at portraying what they, in the
real world, really are: people trying to get along on a planet threatened
in ways we can't even guess, until the next week's news tells us of yet
another chemical that has been released into the environment for years and
now appears to be dangerous.
Through the play there are some threads of hope as the young people move
toward a greater understanding of their collective problem. The show ends
with a stunning image of compassion.

Wonderful. This lighthearted looking play performed by teenagers left me
thoughtful for days; something like my response to Taxi Driver or Apocolipse
Now. The kids look innocent singing and dancing, and you are pulled in to
the great tunes and playful lyrics; but that tapping foot of yours isn't
just playing along, it's unwittingly marching with them towards a scary-looking
future. When the hour is done, you'll leave through a different door than
the one you came in.

It was fun to see the show. A challenge to produce in such a small space
and with such time constraints. But the teenage actors were good and seemed
to have fun with the story, the music was appealing, and the staging inventive.
We liked the "bodybags" and the masks, the set, and the choreography.
The violinist did a fine job. Good work all around.

Suddenly you're in a depleted world where water is being rationed--and it's
hard to understand the rationality behind it. Of course, this play reminds
us, it's tough for citizens to make sense of anything when they're kept
exhausted, thirsty, and under threat. Seeing this troupe of young actors
look for answers in this confusing futureworld raises important questions
about the politics of science, war, corporate manipulation, and basic human
greed. A provocative message plus entertaining music and dance plus young
energy! Great show!

A play to make you think, got water? contains some genuinely chilling moments
interspersed with humor. War, corporate greed, and our future are deftly
addressed by the young cast. Definitely worth seeing!

Got water? is a cry for awareness of the dangers of putting corporate profits
ahead of quality of life and common sense. The thirteen young actor/singers
dramatize the fact we have not handed their generation a better world. The
message is a heavy one. Fortunately, their talent and enthusiasm provide
a counterbalance and leave you thinking they might still find a way to turn
things around. A clever and insightful treatment of the threat to our natural
environment, and an earnest engagement. Well worth the time.

This play will really get you thinking! It moves from quiet and still, to
wacky and musical, from satirical irreverence to fun frivolity. Full of
symbolism and filled with a delightful youthful cast. Don't miss it.

Unusual. It really does make you laugh AND make you cry. The teen performers
are very real--hard to imagine they're acting. The staging is clever and
the music is great. It's definitely worth the walk up to Sutter Street to
see this one!

This was a wonderful play. Performed by a group of high school girls and
one boy, the play touched on a number of fascinating topics that were all
tied together in the final scene. Ranging from the role of the military
industrial complex in today's world, to the common rights of all people
to quench certain human needs, the show never lost its focus. Then just
when it all started to get too serious, a troop broke out into song, or
outrageous costumes graced the stage. Whether you are interested in seeing
an interesting show with a fascinating message, or catching a glimpse of
what high schoolers can do in theatre, Got Water fills the bill.
