Wow! This was just excellent. Ms. Tagano was incredible. I was expecting
something different from a "one-woman show" (i.e., a memoir) and
this just blew me away. Mia knows her stuff and really became the character.
I liked the staging as well. All in all a great evening!

Mia Tagano's performance was excellent. The show was amazing to watch and
wow what a story! Part drama, comedy and just an overall treat. The sound,
lights and slides were fantastic and they did nothing but help Mia's performance,
but the performance itself would be nothing without Mia! ROCK ON!

The performance of Mia was strong. She obviously has this show in her bones.
Technically it was incredible (especially the end and that realization that
she has gone officially crazy...with the slide show and her expressions...very
powerful). The material on the other hand was not as exciting as I hoped
it would be. What makes this show good is Mia takes material that some would
probably not care too much about and uses that incredible stage ability
to bring you in. I would like to see her in other pieces around the city.
She is an acting force.

Cincinnati is a very well-written dark drama (with glimmers of bitter humor).
And Mia Tagano is impressive - a riveting actress, armed with a fierce intelligence,
emotional vulnerability, strength, and commanding stage presence that remind
me of Helen Mirren. It was fascinating, and heartbreaking, to watch her
character fight to retain her sense of self with every shred of her being,
in ways noble and not. An extremely compelling work

Mia Tagano is a devastatingly talented actress, with an intelligence, strength,
vulnerability, and commanding presence that remind me of Helen Mirren -
she is absolutely riveting. And it was fascinating to watch her character
fight - with every shred of her being - to protect herself and to retain
her sanity in this dark, well-written drama (that nevertheless has flashes
of bitter humor). A truly compelling show.

An amazing hour of theatre. It was brought to my attention that the script
was a bit dated. You would never know that by watching it. This piece is
fresh and alive in Mia's hands. To interpret and excecute "going mad"
from a script is a tall order. How do you capture the staccato feel of the
thought changes and not leave the audience in the dust cloud of confusion.
How do you purposefully confuse the audience without genuinly confusing
them. It's a giant task in under an hour and Mia's skill, talent and captivating
stage presence propels you through the dense pain and lonliness of this
rich, rich character. BRAVA!!!

This is an unusual solo show in that it's not a memoir or personal tale;
it's a dramatic piece about a woman who believes the world around her is
disappearing. Actress Mia Targano gave an edgy but sympathetic performance;
she started off with a rapid-fire delivery, but settled into a very personable
and believable character. I heard someone else in the front row actually
gasp at the "shocker" ending.
I'm basing my "four stars" on the performance I saw; some sound
and light cues seemed to be off, and I think more could be made of the character's
funnier lines. Overall, though, highly recommended! |
