This refreshing, fun, heartfelt piece is a must see. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the multi-cultural, multi-lingual sensibility worked. The combination of magic realism, dreamscapes, and bread and circus qualities made this show a fun ride to experience. The particular high points were Mirror Watches, SambaBall, and Birdsong.
The only critique I have is that while the performers clearly seemed to be enjoying themselves, they were a bit uneven in what they were individually able to give at any given point. Perhaps the director could have focused on that to make an even better show.
There's room for improvement. I will be on the look out for what this group is up to in the future.

Hey - we've got three more shows next weekend - see the bottom of our Fringe page for correct times and location:

And whatever you do - don't sit in the front row if you don't want to get "involved" in the action. ;-)

I thought this play had a fresh quality to it. The combination of the rhythms, dancing and dialogue left me unaware of the passing of time. I had a number of favorite moments. "The Motherless Child" scene was a clever syncopation of rhythms expressed through actions of work. The scene with the 3 figures contorting their faces along with witty dialogue had me cracking up. My least favorite was the fairy godmother; the transition to this felt forced and broke the spell of the play. Overall, though, very enjoyable! Definitely worth seeing.

When this group sticks to music and dance, they're very good. However, their attempts at story-telling (especially the "fairy godmother in Angola") are extremely amateurish and don't work at all. Stick to song, music, and percussion.

I really enjoyed this sincere set of stories told with dance, music, singing, and acting. There were thoughtful and humorous takes on real multicultural belief systems and the human condition. Perhaps some stories tackled issues that were a little too much for the time available, but it could be developed into something great!

great to see an ensemble onstage. some moments of great transcedence, like post "war fairygodmother" transition. loved that it was nto a linear story. loved the drumming. overall seemed to need an editor and I was aware of tme passing.

I really enjoyed the multi-disciplinary approach that, comingled with the relatively non-linear narrative structure, lended a somewhat dream-like or surreal quality to a piece that made truly good use of the alloted fringe-time. Critically speaking, one part that didn't seem to flow as well as the others was the dialogue between the guardian angel and the boy with the gun, mainly because of the striking dissimilarity of this mono-disciplinary segment to the rest of the work as well as the length and pacing of the same. Otherwise, I thought the various vignettes moved fluidly and interestingly from one into the next to create a lyrical and rythmic performance piece with enough music to keep things flowing, enough actorly pathos to lend intent and meaning, and enough humor to strike the balance.

It took a little while to adjust to the alternate reality created in this play, but once I did (pretty much through the alchemy of the drug hallucination scene) it was a fun ride. I dug the percussion and choreography (reminded me of my breif stint in a brazillian drumming class). The best part for me was the effect of what the play openly describes as "action with intention." At the end of each scene there is a palpable feeling that something just happened in the room-- like movements in symphony. My bias tends to be toward more concrete dramatic narrative but it's really that feeling that makes theater worthwhile.

An appealing cast, a heartfelt show. I enjoyed the dj bit, and I really liked the drumming. Speaking of heartfelt, it was good to see a simple, sincere show at the Fringe. At least it did me good!

This show wonderfully combines dancing, drumming & acting. The percussions were awesome. I particularly enjoyed the incredible facial expressions and movement of the actors. Two thumbs up!
