Impressive solo peformance, even if you're unfamiliar with Moliere's works.
You have to pay attention to get the nuances of the humor. This performance
is about as far from the neo-surrealist's brand of humor as you can get.
Nice word play. Some audience participation. Moliere Than Thou reinforces
the fact that "some things never change" as one of his bits has
to do with paying off a judge. A nice way to spend an hour of humor from
another time, as "Moliere" goes off on one of his soliloquies.

Fantastic show! Timothy Mooney is a gifted actor who manages to weave together
some of Moliere's best monologues in a spirited performance, done with panache
and style. At two times he asks for volunteers from the audience to do a
scene with him. Ladies: if you've ever wanted to be made love to by Mel
Gibson, take him up on it. You'll only have a few lines, and he does look
like Mel.

Very stong performance by an obvioiusly talented actor. Even if you don't
know Moliere from Maupassant , you'll still enjoy the energy of this show.
Even groundlings could like it.]

Tim Mooney's translation and interpretation of Moliere's work is pure surprising
and inspired fun. He performs with such energy and intensity that the audience
walks away with a smiling exhaustion. This is definitely not your high school
Classics performance. Go and see it while you can!! |
