Adam Venker is a brilliant performer, and this show has some brilliant moments. It is a collage of writings and events from the life of Mayakovsky, arranged on an appropriate framework of physical theatre. This show is a grower - I've seen it twice and it really grew on me, both because Adam's performance had become even more inspired and because I got more out of the text.

Wonderful play. I went into The Yellow Tunic knowing nothing about its subject, avante-garde writer, Vladimir Mayakovsky, and only a moderate idea what to expect. Having seen the show, I can't say I'm better informed about the life of Mayakovsky, but the piece uses Mayakosky's own lectures, and poems, as well as avante-garde movement and a decidedly creepy sound collage to create a mood, an idea of what Mayakovsky is about. Performer Adam Venker has moments in his performance that are brilliant in their subtlety. Recommend it highly.
