Loved them both--honest, funny, smart, sad, hopful--everything one-person theater (my favorite kind) is about for me.

I thought about them both since I saw them.

Irma--My friend sitting next to me said--"NNo air, she's read my mind!" good for you Irma, to get over your panic attack by getting mad and walking out!

Etienne (Frozen)--such a powerful story about being a child and then a caregiver to a parent who loved and diminished you. I loved momma too.

GO SEE THEM

Joya Cory in a short and clever performance depicts an apparently ineffectual woman who while relating her experience at the movie theater makes some telling points about our misguided and violent society. Craig Landry in a much longer monologue nicely explores a community (the Cajans)and a family whose members, though battered and "frozen" by hurricanes and a general state of deprivation, feel a lot more than they are able to show.

Very powerful and personal presentations that let me into the inner world of two sensitive and talented performers..Recommend the show and would like to see more of their work.

Craig Landry has your attention from the moment he steps on stage. He has crafted an engaging story dealing with family dynamics in the wake of the Katrina flooding. His body movements, voice and delivery effectively create multiple characters with whom he engages throughout the performance. Bravo! I can't wait to see what comes next.

I saw these 2 solo plays yesterday and really enjoyed them. I’m still thinking about them today. I found these performances very original. The first one,
IRMA AT THE MOVIES is short and sweet and very funny. Lots of laughing out loud. The longer piece, FROZEN, though more serious, has humor and lots of movement and poetic writing. I was almost always very engaged with what was going on and often moved. I say almost because it’s clear that some parts of FROZEN need more work, especially the portrayal of the mother. Still,I was happy to see this show and recommend it.

Enjoyed both pieces very much. Two very powerful actors. Overflowing with humor and pathos. Really good stuff!

Hurricane Rita and the difficulties of a gay man's relationship with his family come together elegantly and humorously in Craig Landry's "Frozen" playing this Friday-Sunday at Exit Theater Stage Left. "Frozen" is an odyssey that begins in September 2005 and moves back in time to a moment of personal discovery. Look for a star turn as the actor portrays his dead mother surfing the flood waters in her coffin. This is a must see.
