Who says the Esoterics left the stage in the 60's?? I laughed, I cried and then I laughed some more. The Esoterics brand of humor is every bit as relevant, witty, funny and charming as it was in the 60's. I loved this show! Brought to us by several of the original Esoterics, this show engages the audience from the Chaplin warm up act through Charmen the Wonder Duck's amazing leap to the Whoopee Cushion finale. While I laughed at Nellie, (aka Richard Farshler) ringing that bell I was touched at the emotional connection I felt while Laurie Burke sang of love lost. Dennis Freeh (an original member of the "The Plumbers") reminded me of that master of ceremonies I use to welcome into my home every Sunday evening while watching those family variety shows. He makes you feel welcome and entertains us with his wit. Elaine Burke demonstrates to the audience how a muscian can be as much a part of the show as the writing and performances on the stage itself. I particularly enjoyed!
Jeffrey Weissman and his pre-show antics as well as his larger than life characters that filled up the performance area and made us laugh almost till we wet. If there had never been a Chaplin or a Groucho, this is the guy who would have been them. This show is a wonderfuly, funny and moving stroll down the memory lane that everyone has no matter what their age. I see it as the standout show of the Fringe Festival and my five stars are posted here in urging you all to find your way to 965 Mission Street before September 17 is here and gone, along with this gem. If your experience is anything like mine, be prepared to laugh till you cry and then laugh some more. And don't worry about bringing your own cushion; the show comes with a Whoopee for everyone. See the show and you'll know what I mean.

a completely charming, innocent recreation
of classic vaudeville, with a very talented group acting their hearts out.

At 90 minutes of non-stop action (except for intermission)this show is a real bargain.

A few people walked out after the first few minutes - I guess it wasn't "edgy" enough for them.

I went into the show hoping to have a few laughs and a good time. I left with a smile that lasted for two days and an evening to remember forever. Trust me, after this show; you'll never look at a hula dance without laughing your ass off!!

The old jokes are the good ones, right? This show is like an episode of Laugh-In, or something from an earlier time, that somehow lost its way and has been drifting on a raft until now. Make no mistake about it: much of this show is stupid, and I mean that in the best possible way...my face hurt from laughing by the end. Though the material is dated (and far from high-brow), what makes it really work is the talent - the cast includes some seriously funny people, especially writers Richard Farshler (Mambo) and Jeffrey Weissman, as well as Misha Frenklak and music lady Elaine Burke. Highlights include Weissman's pre-show Charlie Chaplin audience interaction goofery, the "Magic Plumbers" bits, and the Fabulous Flames singing the doo-wop classic "You're Mature".

A wonderful evening of fun entertainment. Lots of laughs and jokes, and great music and singers. It is a must see for the Fringe Festival. Take the whole family and laugh through an evening of magic, songs, dancing ducks, and method acting toilets.

great fun! this is like a slice of vaudeville: funny jokes, silly songs, music, dance, bird-poop running gags, impersonations of charlie chaplin & groucho marx, whoopie cushions, and even a live duck who quacks on cue. what more could you ask for? no social issues: just a pure review of old shtick and new.

This was an excellent show. From start to finish I really enjoyed the show. The singing was great, physical comedy was superb and all in all just a fun show.
