Line for line the funniest and most enjoyable show in the Fringe Fest. this
year. I saw Yorick all over San Francisco and just had to come see the show.
This brought me over to the Fringe Fest. and I was able to see a variety
of shows. Hit and miss most but Yorick was a hit. The ensemble was superb.
Stand outs for me were Jason, a sweet natured stage manager. Bart a lovable
drunk. Phineas, that @$$hole actor we have all seen or worked with before.
And Yorick, the man, the skull, the legend. I hope to hear more about this
show in the future.

The whole gang never fails to please. Having been an actor in a few of the
shows with this crowd of players, I alwasy enjoy it when I'm in the audience.
The play was edited very expertly and played just as brilliantly from the
full length show it was penned as. The small space was perfect for this
show with a talking skull and many small crevices to hide liquor bottles
which are revealed as the show progresses, and the bottles are emptied!
I love this show. I especially love the devoted Method lunacy that Carmen
Herrero-Butelo puts into her role as Lauren; and the drunken wisdom of Jayson
Voque in his role of Bart. Jason Feilzer and Cyndie Menard are excellent
as the stage manager and the actress who REALLY has feelings for "Hamlet"!
David Nelson is stellar as the actor who wants to do it better than Olivier,
Welles, and Brannaugh and struggles with the power of Hamlet. If there ever
was a villain there to stop the show, or cause it trouble, none other does
it better than Joe !
Toon. And who can forget the man of every Hamlet, Yorick. Mike Kiley in
his comic genius give life in no other way to the skull of a man who once
bore power and pain on his back, and who plays Yorick with never a falter
in his merry merth! After all what does a skull have to lose! This show
is a must for anyone who loves Hamlet, or has been in Hamlet. Bravo to Rob
Chase for taking something a hodge podge group of students, children, adults,
teachers, and parents alike shared one magic summer back in Stockton, CA,
and creating a piece of comic brilliance which can take us back to that
place and time where for some, myself especially, the love for theater and
acting was born, and nurtured in an environment of incredible artistic talent.
Long live Hamlet, Yorick, and Company!

I would give this more than five stars if I was able. This show is funny,
well written, and will make you fall in love with each and every character.
It was great to see first time "Fringers" perform so well. I loved
that they brought a set and took the audience beyond the basic black box.
All I heard all weekend was "You have to see this show" and "I
got my picture taken with Yorick" who could be seen everywhere from
The Y to Origional Joe's. This play was by far my favorite of this year
and deserves best of fringe.....if only the man under the desk wasn't taken,
because I am certianly taken by his voice.
Kudos to all the people who helped bring this show from Lodi to the fringe.

Everyone should see this show! It was well written and performed. When you
realize this was the first Fringe performance for this group; it amazes
me that everything was done so professionally. Top honors to the whole crew,
onstage and behind the scenes. The full house that was present when I saw
the show seemed to appreciate the humor and had a great time. The show was
fast paced and kept you laughing. YOU NEED TO SEE THIS ONE!

A funny script, a very tight ensemble with a lot of energy. And I'll
admit it, I'm in love with Yorick now.

I will be honest. I came to "Yorick" because I had friends in
it; and while their history has been good, if it wasn't, that would be alright
too. This was not the case.
Yorick & Co. was one of the funniest plays I'd seen in a while. Each
role was perfectly cast, the script wonderfully written, everything seemed
to come together. And when I later found out that 45 minutes was cut from
the original script, I was amazed. You couldn't tell.
I would recommend "Yorick & Co." to anyone who's looking
for a good belly laugh as well as a story with a good heart. Top marks!

This show was down right amazing. I for one did not realize that anyone
was doing just a straight comedy at the fringe this year. No naked breasts
onstage (not that I minded that) or bad language (not that I don't use planty
of that). Just a good romp through funny. Everyone at the festival this
year should take note in what this show is.

i was lucky enough to meet most of the preformers from this show during
my time at the fringe this year. this is a tight group who were here to
have a great time and it shows on stage. the were little lightning storms
on stage growing and bursting any chance they got and we as an audience
were sitting on the lightning rods. yorick was of course my favorite character,
how can you not say that about a skull you saw all over san francisco throughout
the weekend, he is becoming an icon and a legend i will miss him when he's
gone. the man who had to stay under that desk the whole time better be getting
some serious rub downs after each show, how he brought that thing to so
much life i will never know. lauren was excellent, very funny facial movements.
jason was just down right goofy and adorable. bart was a clever blend of
lovable drunk and philisophical handsome older man, never found myself wishing
i was a few years older more in my life before seeing him. there were a
couple thi!
ngs that held back the performance. the woman playing jill seemed a bit
too old to play ophelia, she dressed young in the show but that really just
made it stand out for me that she was off age wise, i enjoyed her clutsiness
and flirtiness but just didn't fully believe it. lang seemed a bit off timing
wise when i saw the show on saturday. he still gave a good show but just
didn't have the spark or personality of say yorick, bart, and jason. all
in all it was an excellent show. one of the funniest ones of the festival,
ranking right up there with baby love and ciriculim vitae. i hope it gets
picked best of the fringe, i would love to catch it again, as everyone else
should because i have never laughed so hard in my life. the writer and director
should be applauded

Funny. Smart. A great backstage show. A terrific take on what patrons mean
to a show and a theatre. Solid performances. A fun hour.

A very enjoyable , quick paced ,laugh filled farce ,a bit over the top
at times , but what's a Fringe for? Saw it at a full show and appeared that
the entire audience had a great time. Good for whatever ails ya , just ask
Yorick. |
