I saw this show at the Minneapolis Fringe. You should see it too! Noel is a very talented performer and the "conversations" with her luggage are excellent.

Party of One was awesome... It started out really slow and painful, I mean who want's to see a clown cry? But after a few knee-slapping laughs, I got the thought that Noel Williams had intended the saddness to be part of the emotional roller coaster of the play. Noel's tangents into back stories and Gone with the Wind in 1 minute was hysterical.

This show would have worked better for me if she'd had some outside help with editing. She is very talented and likable and there are some very funny moments such as the phone call with God. But , it felt like she was trying to do too much and some of the bits that started off great just went on far too long and lost their effect and became tiresome. I started losing interest after awhile. Sometimes less really is better.

I wasn't planning to see this show tonight, but I am so glad I did. This woman is funny in every way possible: funny-demented, funny-sweet, and funny-true. Funny-hilarious. I loved her use of the stage, her costumes, and her props. I was sitting in the very last row, and her eyes! - every glance registered, every whimper and whisper. I was crying with laughter during the movie re-enactment. Then I was moved to tears during her most vulnerable moments. And as someone who once found herself crying in a train station, with tons of luggage and not knowing where to go, I could definitely relate. (But even if that never happened to you, specifically, I think you could, too.) Beautiful work.

Update: I saw this show twice (because I woke up still thinking about how incredibly deliriously wonderful it was) , and the second time was as delightful as the first.

This show is a must see. Noelle will charm the pants off you with her endearing and totally loveable character. Her creative use of props and her abridged version of gone with the wind are only some of the things that makes this show great. She is a brilliant performer and will have you in hysterics one second and almost crying the next. A rare talent. See it

Although Captain Melisande gives it all she's got, the show didn't ring true enough to me. Noel, however, does a great parody of Gone With the Wind.

In real life, the actress of this one-woman show is enchanting. She has a quiet presence and charm that is in intriguing. On stage, however, she simply explodes with comic energy, leading her audience on a wonderful journey through her character's manic psyche. There are moments when you are touched by the childlike and tragic side of the clown, only to be quickly propelled back into fits of laughter. When you leave and the laughter finally dies, you wonder if there's anything this actress couldn't do.

Certain to be the best of Fringe. Pure bi-polar genius. ...but, fair warning... Those whom bear witness to this brilliant production, without exception, shall fall utterly head on top of heals in love with Noel and pine for her the rest of their days.

When Captain Mel first blundered onto the stage with all her baggage, I thought, uh-oh, a clown! But I immediatley realized, this was no ordinary clown. The show was a brilliant journey with a very talented performer. I was mesmerized throughout the whole show. Very entertaining and offbeat-just what you hope to see with a fringe show. My favorite show so far.

From the first moment in the show when we see Captain Mel's lovely red nose, she had me sitting in the palm of her hand! I found myself alternating between near fits of tears and several fits of laughter. I'm sure that if someone had videotaped my facial expressions during the show it would have proved to be almost as entertaining as Party of One since I was completely enraptured by the journey. For me, it was a story of the dissonance betwenn wanting and waiting for something- luckily, I want to see this show again and won't have to wait long since there are still showings left! Thank you, Captain Mel!
