This show is definitely one of the most original at the Fringe this year - Courtney McLean is a fast-shit-smack-talkin' performer that lights you on fire! The concept of a "science fiction satire on women's magazines" is something that raised my eyebrows, but she that's exactly what she delivers, hilariously. Go see it if only for the awesomely scary ending.

Brilliant stuff. I don't read Cosmopolitan myself, but seeing the magazine covers at the supermarket is enough to make me laugh. Courtney McLean makes me laugh three times as hard. I suppose I was the choir to this show's message, but McLean is such an outrageously talented performer, and there are so many sharp turns of phrase that this show is a theatrical feast - for example "You're perfect the way you are, you fat cow!"

This gets my highest rating for being by far the weirdest solo Fringe show I've ever seen. It's also the funniest. Courtney's writing and acting are way up there with the best of 'em, but it's the content itself that sets this show miles apart -- it starts out so innocently, and ends WAY off the scale. Imagine Lily Tomlin joining the Firesign Theatre and then pulling off her mask, revealing that she's actually Roman Polanski. If that won't persuade you to go see Super Glossy, I don't know what will.

I caught this show in DC. Courtney is Supah Hot, Supah Sexy, and Supah Smart.

Courtney is a monumental presence onstage, with an unforgettable smoldering energy, that it's really fun to watch her. It's great to see a show with so much passion, humour, and wit, and one that can really change the way you see the world around you. (Or at least the world as seen in ad copy, from Walgreen's to Vogue....)

WOW!! The shear energy that this beautiful red-head possesses is mind boggling! This show- a sci-fi/semi-stand-up/satire/multi-media/multi-character piece- is so original, so funny, so charming and definitely polished.
The hilarious slide show alone could keep you entertained for the whole hour. But add to that a great story and a fantastic perform and you have a show that show not be missed. Like I said when I saw this woman perform for the first time in Minneapolis last year, she could make reading the dictionary funny and exciting. See it see it see it!!!

Courtney Mclean is a tour de force in this, her second one-woman show. Playing a variety of characters, she has an acute sense of the human condition in which all of us can relate. Her edgy writing and unabashful performance catapults this Super Glossy view into life's toughest questions into a Super show!

Courtney McLean does it all. She wrote and is performing a KICK ass show that everyone ought to take a peak at. She outs the magazine and fashion industry and their crimes against women. Courtney has a spitfire presence on stage jumping from character to character with out a blink or hesitation keeping the crowd on their toes wondering what will happen next?

I saw this show in Minneapolis and have been recommending it to all my friends. Courtney McLean is an adept, charming, scary, amusing performer who seems to know exactly what she's doing at nearly every step (particularly in the moments of shifting between characters). I found "Super Glossy" to be a fascinating, dark, feminist sci-fi critique of the fashion industry and the objectification of women. It's one of those shows that "seems long" in GOOD way--as in "did she really just pack all that into sixty minutes?" Great writing, great performance, and the slides were creepy, fantastic, hilarious.

Super Glossy! - Super Pink! Super Funny!

Highly entertaining. Funny. Energetic. Way too true observations about women’s magazines, what they write about, the women who read them, and the singles scene. You’ll find this one woman show even more amusing if you had the opportunity to read a recently newspaper article about the tribulations of being a redhead in the UK.

The crowd wasn’t large, but the laughter was. Courtney’s channeling of a singles bar male sleaze was right on. The plot to “to brainwash the women of Earth” is an integral part of the production. This doesn’t mean that this is a “science fiction” play. Trekkies stay away. You won’t get it. If you’ve ever gone out on the prowl on a Friday night (or pretended to), you will. At the end of the play, I told the Fringe doorkeeper, “I think I’ll pass on dating redheads for awhile!”

This is exactly the sort of show that I go to Fringe Festivals hoping to see. It is funny, political, and very well acted. It should be on everyone's "must see" list.

Smart & funny. A fun play with a story that's really well crafted. She does a great job of revealing the plot (the evil plot), little by little.
