The Garage (SF Magazine's Best of the Bay) and the Queer Cultural Center present a 90 minute rollicking performance showcase with some of the Bay Area's most provocative queer performance artists. Each show will feature a rotating roster of spoken-word, music, drag, cabaret, experimental theatre and contemporary dance. Check out 975howard.com to see a complete list of performers. Sept 11 "The Not About 9/11 Show!" featuring Sherilyn Connelly and Melanie Salazar Case, an evening of comedy, storytelling, videos, bizarre behavior and more, none of which will have anything whatsoever to do with 9/11. Sept 13-14 two night FREE performance showcase featuring contemporary dance (Heidi Landgraf, FACT/SF), performance art (Philip Huang, Karen Fox), musical theatre (Matthew Martin), clowning (Calypso) and spoken-word (Sherilyn Connelly). Sept 15 Calypso and Friends, an evening of queer clowning, circus and general mayhem. Sept 18 Meliza Banales presents One Bad Year In 2008, a marriage ended, a nephew was murdered, and a job was lost-- and that was only the first eight weeks of the year for Meliza Banales. You'd think it would be a banner time to just throw in the towel, but how can you do that when there's so much meditating and hoola-hooping to do? Sept 20 Queer Girl Theater Project presents a showcase of spoken-word,
theatre, dance and film. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
