Cynthia Weyuker and JoJo Razor are two story-telling vocalists who use various instruments and loop boxes to create garden theater. The story of the VoxMaids is an experimental neo-folk tale, played out in moments of insanity and beauty. Using their vocals, musical saw, instruments, performance and film they seek to create fertile ground for the source, or what they like to call Searching for the Voice of the Third. With the precision measurements of alchemists, Cynthia and JoJo aim to create a soundscaped foundation on which the Voice of the Third may not only be heard but seen. Cynthia Weyuker holds a Bachelor of Music in music therapy from the University
of the Pacific. She has performed with local companies including SF Lyric
Opera, Goathall Productions, Contemporary Opera Marin, as well as the Sacramento
Opera Chorus, Symphony Chorus and the San Francisco Punk Rock Orchestra. JoJo Razor holds an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and has exhibited nationally and internationally since 1991. She has been involved in the California music scene as a vocalist and performer for over 20 years. Looking to combined her passion of music, performance, visual art and ritual led her to Cynthia where they co-developed the foundation for VoxMaids. For the past four years she has been involved with and performed in ParaTheatrical ReSearch as a core member. She is also an actress and has performed in two independent films: Antero Alli's "The Invisible Forest," and in Eddy Angel's "Living in the Future" which is currently in production. She has performed solo, under the direction of David Ford, at San Francisco's Marsh Theater presenting excerpts from a book she is currently writing called "The Dead of Winter Forest." Those excerpts can be viewed at www.youtube.com/jojorazor. Lately she has been busy creating the films used in many of the VoxMaids performances.
