Simple. Brilliant. Spiritual. So much has already been said, but I must add that the puppet (Luna) was metaphysical angst & depression personified. The passion and craft of the playwright & puppeteer allowed her to reveal the pain and frustration of a very human attempt to control the uncontrollable. This approach lent an absurd and lighthearted lilt to what could be a dark subject. Love works that capture shadow and light so succinctly while also offering entertainment. Bravo.

I had to see it twice!!! Luna was beautiful. No kid puppet show here! The expertise of the puppeteer became apparent when I found myself believing Luna was a living girl, alive with deep emotions. In the span of a few minutes, we sighed, we laughed, we were riveted. It was magical and rich with layers of meaning. Come back again to America!

A delicate, deftly performed and oddly moving look inside the world of an adolescent puppet.

Luna is a teenage girl whose room is her only escape, her only privacy, her only chance to relax. But her space is invaded by a series of events which rock her world and drive her to seek an end to it all.

Although the puppeteer, Iris Schleuss, doesn't hide herself, after just a few minutes the fact that Luna is just a puppet doesn't factor in to your feelings for her. Her room is like your room, when you were fourteen or so, and her profound relationship with it isn't so different from yours either.

Nor is her reaction to her mother's incessant nagging, her helplessness and hopelessness when she gets a terrible report card, or the despair she falls into when her boyfriend abruptly dumps her.

The illusion is complete, and the spell masterfully cast by Schleuss in the details of Luna's breathing, the way her limbs awkwardly protrude over the edge of her bed... the slightly funky but heartfelt dance steps she puts together when she puts on her headphones... or the way her sobs wrench her when she comes to grips with just how alone she is... how alone.

What's very different about Luna, of course, is that being a puppet she can't choose to end it all in the same way that we can, because she was never alive. Or was she? Is she? And if she is, in some sense, what would it mean for her to not be?

This simple piece of theater stays with you far longer, and at a far deeper level than you could imagine a puppet show doing. Especially such a short show. Within 25 minutes, Schleuss, or is it Luna, manages to get you to think about the choice we have about whether to stay here or not, the relationship between our art and ourselves, and even the question of whether we can live on in our creations.

If you're looking for a reason to love the Fringe Festival, this remarkable, surprising, reverberating little play might just be it.

Iris Schleuss is a one woman puppeteer all the way from Germany!
Doing a puppet show about suicide! This terse and pithy show packs a lot of wollop in a short time. Ms. Schleuss puppetry is a joy to watch as she completely inhabits her character as she is not hidden or masked herself. There are lots of surprises and truly engaging work. Go see her last show tomorrow!

The most wonderful play about suicide you could ever see. It is my favorite of the 11 plays seen so far at the Fringe 2009.
At only 25 Mins its a great play to see and then have plenty of time to ponder, discuss while being 1st in line to see your next choice this weekend.

Don't let the title keep you away. The puppeteer exhibits a craft (table puppetry) we don't often (ever?) see in America. This show is clever, the ending is a surprise, and title makes a lot of sense, it turns out. This performance is anything but dark--It's brilliant! See it if you can.

This is my favorite show. Suicide Me! is brilliant. The best part was that I thought I knew what was going to happen from reading the blurb in the program, but the puppeteer totally had me fooled! Iris Schleuss is adept at her craft. I was in awe as I watched her "breathe life" into an inanimate object. And the story she created had a lot of humor in it. I loved the twists and turns.

A very entertaining and charming little play. If you enjoy comedic puppet shows about teen suicide with existentialist undertones, you'll love this show!

A Puppet, a Pistol, and no Paxil, a Solo Puppetry Play

Or is it a dual performance, featuring Irish Schleuss and her depressed puppet, Luna? An engaging, albeit brief performance. Suicide me! Features a puppet that has a number of negative things occur in a very short a period of time. Will the lights go out on Luna? You’ll have to attend to find out. It takes only a couple of minutes before you don’t see Schleuss manipulating Luna. Oops, the puppet. Suicide Me! Is very dark but quite entertaining. There is humor sprinkled in spots.

Delightful and surprising. this wonderful show kept me guessing all the way to the end. And the best part was that there was a metaphysical message underneath the entertainment asking me to consider who's really in charge of my life! Great fun. Don't miss it!

Fantastic show, in more ways than one - touching, amusing, emotionally evocative, visually engaging, to name a few. And it was tremendously thought provoking as well. I'm still pondering the many possible interpretations. I enjoyed it on Thursday night, and I'm still enjoying it! Thank you Iris Schleuss!

So that's two votes for "intriguing" ...which means you're engaged during the performance and leave still pondering what it was that went on. And that's a good thing. At less than 25 minutes ,(and only $7) the piece moves right along even with a minimum of dialogue. And the short length makes it perfect for those 10pm shows. Particularly enticing for anyone interested in the art of puppetry. Well worth seeing ....and pondering

This is a truly masterful performance by both puppet and puppeteer. It is full of intense emotions, poignant moment, sadness and laughter. The dialog, in both word and movement between them was captivating. This is an intriguing piece that should not be missed.
