Below the surface of the ocean. Far far below. in impenetrable darkness, unimaginable pressure and unanswerable silence is a tiny vessel. Inside its mettle walls; cold, wet, cramped, are Two men. Two men who smell like fish. Now they are about to make a startling discovery.
With great suffering comes great comedy.
Save your last breath for "Submarine".

An existential, epic, mimed comedy. A collaboration by former Cirque Du Soleil performer Jaron Hollander and Emmy award winner Slater Penney.

Jaron AvivHollander, International Circus Artist and native to the Bay Area, has many titles including Clown, Acrobat, Aerialist, Actor, Director, Coach, Master Teacher and Artistic Director. Jaron has been performing professionally for 30 years, a fact that is even more impressive considering he is only 37 years old. He has spent the interim time performing around the world with many companies including Cirque Du Soleil, Make*A*Circus and Flynn Creek Circus. He has made quite a mark in Northern California's performing arts scene as a founding member of both Berkeley's Impact Theatre and Mendocino's Flynn Creek Circus. Jaron is known as an accomplished teacher having taught theatre and circus arts all over the bay area at well known schools including the Clown Conservatory, Cal Shakes and Berkeley Repertory's Theatre School, Sacramento Theatre Company and Splash Circus just to name a few. Jaron is the founding artistic Director of the Kinetic Arts Center in Oakland CA.

Slater Brooks Penney
Instructor/Performer
Slater Penney is a local and international performing artist and instructor. He grew up mostly shy, reading comics, drawing pictures, and working hard in the same public school system his mother worked.
Slater went to UCSC in 1992. He began clowning during this time at the Santa Cruz farmers market, and upon graduating in 1996 with a BA in Theatre Arts continued his circus training at the San Francisco Circus Center (SFCC) under Master Lu Yi, Xia Ke Min, and Jeff Raz. Despite being a "Jack-Of-All-Trades" there, he did focus on Chinese acrobatics, clowning and fire dancing. He began professional performances with the Bantu Mystic Family Circus, Emerald Rain Productions, and Burning Man. In 1997 he taught children circus arts at SFCC, and discovered he had a knack for it.
Slater found work as a body performer for motion capture with Tech TV, and earned an Emmy award in 2000. At some point here he up with Jaron Hollander, having briefly seen him with long curly hair at Willard Middle School, and performed in the 2002 production of Make*A*Circus under Jaron's direction. He went to the Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre on impulse in 2004. This led him to working with the ensemble puppetry troupe Lunatique Fantastique, the monkey chant and Gamelan troupe One People Voice Company, and the Crucible's Fire Dramas. This took him back to Burning Man, toured across California, and overseas to Bali.
Slater learned more about the fine art of circus arts instruction at Trapeze Arts, teaching and learning as much as possible. He met Luc Martin, 5 time gold medalist winner in the Monte Carlo circus festival, and worked at his gym Pan Gym for a time. Slater met his wife Christine Germain, and created a duet using partner acrobatics and contact improvisation called "Le Projet Migration." Together they've traveled to New York and Thailand as both teachers and performers. When Jaron came back to town from Cirque du Soliel, they worked together at Head Over Heels as Artistic Director and Recreational Circus Director with great success. When Jaron went on to found the Kinetic Arts Center, Slater joined in while continuing both his relationship at HOH and his relationship with his wife. Jaron and Slater currently have a clown piece called "Submarine Show."
Slater continues to enjoy reading comics, performing theatre arts, teaching circus arts to young and old, and keeps in good contact with his mother. He hopes to continue doing this kind of stuff for the rest of his life.
