Solo Performance; Children over age 14
A smash-hit at Victoria's 1999 UNO Festival of Solo Performance: Canadian actor Paul Terry as Margarethe, Princess of Bohemia - the 14th Century Monarch of Tyrol. Reputed to be the ugliest woman in history, the Maultasch ("Pocket-Mouth") was the perfect scapegoat for her subjects during the ravages of the Black Death, and an exceedingly desirable political bride. In this haunting script by one of Canada's hottest young playwrights, Terry's metamorphosis into the ill-fated Gothic heroine is hypnotic, heartbreaking, and ultimately triumphant.
