5review = What is this guy below (B.Wm.C.) talking about?
There is nothing predictable about this fabulous
one woman show. Kim Porter took us on a wonderfully
funny ride - with several unexpected stops along the way
which made it even more enjoyable. She is a master
storyteller - and of the 12 shows I saw at Fringe
this year (all on the comedy side) - this one made me
laugh the most. Her characters are ever so
believable. Her delivery is right on. And her
timing is very very close to perfect. I've come
to notice that almost everyone who posts a negative
review on here - fails to include their email
address. Hmmmmm. I'll tell you what - you'd better KNOCK
ON WOOD that the Fringe will continue to provide
shows of this quality.

5review = This was a great last Fringe day for me, seeing both this show and Brown and Black and White All Over back to back. They both received well deserved standing ovations. Knock on Wood is first of all a funny, funny show! Kim Porter's writing is sharply detailed and extremely well structured. And her acting is wonderful. She can get laughs with the arch of a brow or the twist of a phrase. Yes the show is funny but it is also very moving. Perhaps the shows message, that we must love and trust ourselves has been said before but can we be reminded too often that attempting to live our lives to please others can please no one? Not when the reminder is done with such skill, humor and love.

5review = Hopefully, a theatre experience will take you somewhere beyond just the street address of the theatre. Such was the case with Kim Porter's "Knock On Wood". This was a delicious piece that took me to a Texas tornado and beyond and made me glad to be along for the ride. Easily "Best of Fringe", and certainly among the funneist and touching of the festival.

5review = Predictable and cute. Not what I'd call cutting edge. Without the profanity, this would be something Oprah would love.

5review = I've very critical of most of the plays and players I see. Don't much care for them. So it was a thrill to see a play as beautifully performed and written as "Knock on Wood". It's funny, heartfelt and percpetive. Do not miss this show. Do not miss this show.

5review = Kim Porter is one of the up and coming solo performers of her generation. She packs the punch of any great performer I have seen. Her writing is outstanding and her acting is even better. I found her play both funny and poignant. Kim has something very special to offer her audiences.
The play begins with a young woman discovering that the wood grain around the stereo in her car is not in fact wood but plastic. This seems like a relatively benign incident but it sends the audience off on a fascinating, humorous and often chilling odyssey of low-self-esteem and superstition. Kim has tremendous insights into the human condition and we in the audience find ourselves laughing - often painfully - in recognition of our own foibles.
The play is short - approximately one hour - and seems to go by even faster, making us long for more!

5review = Kim Porter is an incredible new talent in San Francisco! This show is one of the best solo shows that I have seen in many years. Her work is truly universal material that all audience members can relate to. You should really see this one.

5review = Kim has definitely got a gift for storytelling, and this show brings that fact to light. Emotionally truthful, funny, insightful, I feel like Jeffrey Lyons when I rave about her, but, can you say, Best of the Fringe? All of this, and she's pregnant! That's something I couldn't do, so y'all better see this show!
