5review = Yay!! Finally women that we can believe in, root for, and laugh with. The two women hit the mark all around in this play, and the audience is in for a treat. Thanks for a fabulous ride!

5review = This is a very insightful blend of comedy, humor and music that explores the basic human need to belong in a fun, approachable way.

5review = Tremendous fun, great concept, great characters.
I enjoyed it a lot, except for self-conscious episode about "my beginnings in theatre."

5review = A funny, sly skewering of our penchant for defining others by exclusion from what we are-- or worse, how we let others use this technique to drive our own self-image.
Most of the vignettes are kept light, a couple are poignant, but all of them have some sting...these are not the noble soccer moms of political-demographic lore.
Some of the portrayals, despite the comic touch, have a deeper resonance: the little kid's "keep-out" club is a preview of barbaric fraternity initiation rites; the cools-vs.-geeks schism reminds you of recent high school horrors.
The performers are both versatile in the range of characters they portray and they have a good chemistry.

5review = Kudos, ladies! Not since Lucy and Ethel have I seen such magical chemistry between two talented artists! It was obvious that they knew their material - but there also appeared to be a special trust that the two shared between them that no bit of rehearsing could instill. You just know these women enjoy each other's company, on stage and off. I know I enjoyed them.

5review = If good theatre is like a mirror showing the audience something about themselves, then this light-hearted look of what we do to "fit in" is probably some of the most poignant and delightful theatre you'll see at The Fringe. I saw it twice and each time I overheard audience members saying quietly, "I know what that's like."
I think the playwrights are onto something.

5review = Seeing "Membership is Never Free" was very depressing, due to it confirming a suspicion I've had: that you may as well hire a monkey with darts, as try to figure out what you should see at the Fringe. We went to this thinking it sounded slightly less uninteresting than everything else in that time slot--and it was far and away the best thing we saw at the Fringe. Hilarious and smart and paced to perfection. Maher and Freeman (the actors) are TOO cool; that's all I know.

be real life. It'll make you laugh and bring
a tear to your eye. 2 gals = alot of work!
Singing, dancing, comedy and drama well put
together to keep you in your seat. HATS OFF!!

5review = This play was fun, heartfelt, and thought-
provoking. The actors created a wonderfully
ebullient and life-affirming evening of reflection
on their own lives, and the theatricality of it all!
They created art out of normal lives. And they made
me think about my own potentially "theatrical" background!
These two women have a marvelous chemistry and a
broad range of theatrical talents that really brought
depth to their "membership" explorations! I loved it!
This is the kind of show I would like to bring to
my peers at work -- to use in "Development" sessions.

5review = I had a chance to see an early preview of "Membership" as it prepared for its Fringe debut and was completely enchanted. I highly recommend it. Two talented actresses deliver big laughs in a show that tickles the funny bone and touches the heart. (Yeah, I made that up.) Go see it.
