5review = A serious monologue on behalf of a 14th century Princess of Bohemia
who led a very interesting life. Kudos are due the actor for undertaking
to play so many things that he is not -- a woman, a Bohemian, royalty,
and a 14th century person! We sympathize with her, as she is able to find
humor, compassion, and dignity in what can only be described as a painful
situation. The costume and props are well-chosen for the most part; although,
I found the green face paint a bit distracting (perhaps this was supposed
to be some kind of allusion to Frankenstein's monster). The actor's delivery
has the proper sense of gravity punctuated by the occasional light moment,
though it would have been easier to follow if it were spoken more slowly
and with a little more vocal range. Overall, an enjoyable and uplifting
piece.

The first Fringe performance I saw, so
everything else has had to measure up!

5review = Evocatively written and convincingly acted, although at times
Paul Terry rushed through strings of words, obliterating their meaning,
and his timing of a few moments seemed a little rough.

5review = The actor is a master of technique. But I did find myself wondering
what the emotional point was... The Duchess was unchanged throughout, and
didn't appear to be on the verge of anything special. The script didn't
seem to give the actor or audience any cracks to exploit.

5review = Wonderful writing and careful, affecting acting, with one exception:
I felt it was rushed. I often had to work hard to hear the words in their
rapid-fire assault. My companion is not a native speaker of English, but
speaks English fluently, and she was very disappointed to have been unable
to understand.

just enough time to tell this story. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!

5review = An interesting and moving dramatic performance.
The actor really inhabited his character well, without drag-queening it
up.
Thought-provoking, sad, yet touched with spots of wicked sarcasm and humor.
The low lighting fading in and out somewhat annoyed me.
I'd see it again!

suprisingly funny this is the kind of show we wouldn't get to see if not
for the Fringe. Thank you Paul Terry. Thank you Janet Munsil. Thank you
Fringe.(Stevin Winn doesn't know what he's missing)

5review = Marvelously solid, technically proficient work. The story itself
is intriguing and there are flashes of tremendous beauty and wit in the
writing. My only reservations concern the lack of true theatricality, both
in the conception and in the execution. There seemed to be no reson for
this to be a play rather than a short story. To whom was Margaret supposed
to be speaking? Who was this monologue being addressed to? For whom, or
for what, was she dressing during the course of the play? I felt that far
more could have been done, in terms of staging, music, etc., to turn this
into a far more effective piece of theatre. And, sadly, Paul Terry, even
with all that make-up caked on, was not nearly grotesque enough to make
the piece function optimally. Still, within its limitations, I found the
play quite interesting and well done.

5review = Despite racing through the text (is this a 75 minutes show
trying to squeeze into an hour?), Paul Terry creates a wonderfully
sympathetic portrait of this woman. The script deftly combines
historical fact, courtly intrigue, and personal drama.
