Jump! Theatre's spirited name takes on new meaning once you realize that the troupe puts on plays that deal with mental illness. But don't confuse it with a suicide club — Jump! simply deals with the thorny issues head on, given that many of its members have disorders of their own. This weekend's Jump! Theatre's Springboard Showcase seeks to develop new work by emerging and established artists in a collaborative environment. The first entry, Madison Clell's work-in-progress Cuckoo, concerns a woman who tries to keep her alternate selves away from her boyfriend. The second, Nena St. Louis's Jill: Anatomy of Suicide, deals with an artist using star charts and brain diagrams to keep her suicidal voice at bay. Last is Peas Porridge, a one-act play by Gaetana Caldwell-Smith that takes place in apocalyptic San Francisco after a city-crushing disaster
