Welcome to the eccentric world of Baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven: the
unsung hero of the American Dada movement, whose greatest piece of work was
her life. Written by Kerry Reid, the play leads the audience through Elsa's
riotous and uncompromising life. Christine Augello, the shows's sole
performer says: 'I just loved the character, her craziness. She is
intriguing. She was before her time. She broke rules.' Talking to
Augello, it becomes clear that she has developed a bond with Elsa that goes
beyond simple theatrical production. 'The show is developing with each
telling. It's like art on stage, because that's what she was 24/7. She was
an artist', says Augello. And now, nearly a century after the baroness gave
the New York art scene an irreverent kick up the arse, The Last of the Red
Hot Dadas finally give this colourful character the recognition she
deserves.
