Macbeth
- Cutting Ball Theatre
review by Robert Hurwitt, SF Chronicle May 2005
-
- Director Rob Melrose and Cutting Ball Theater take a bold, innovative
approach in a slightly cut, intriguingly rearranged, inventively staged
version of Shakespeare's great tragedy that looks at the Macbeths as the
parents of a dead child and downplays much of the witchcraft. There are
striking moments (and too much stage fog) in the 2 1/2-hour production,
but for the most part the cast of six hasn't achieved enough mastery of
the verse to carry through Melrose's vision
